10 shooting stars ¬ Look to the sky

rotation. one. [19 Apr 2005|07:01pm]
[ mood | accomplished ]

As George Carlin asked, "Why 10? Why not 9, or 11?" Well, I'll tell you why. Because 10 sounds important. 10 sounds official. I knew if I tried 11, people wouldn't take the site seriously. People would say, "What, are you kidding me? 11 free mp3s? Get the fuck out of here!" But 10, 10 sounds important. 10 is the basis for the decimal system. It's a decade. It's a psychologically satisfying number. The Top 10. The 10 Most Wanted. The 10 Best Dressed. So deciding on 10 songs was clearly a marketing decision. And it's obviously a bullshit list. Much love to George and his book/audiobook, When Will Jesus Bring the Porkchops?

There will usually be 10 songs, but since it's a grand opening, there's one additional song.

x INSTRUCTIONS
01 Go to Gmail.

03 Download like mad.
04 Leave a comment. The 'leave a comment' thing has been renamed 'Look to the sky', and can be located at the upper right hand corner.
05 Enjoy!

x RULES
01 Please delete the files after 24 hours. We don't, of course, but it must be placed here.
02 Please do not delete the mp3s. They're there for everyone to enjoy. Karma.
03 Finally, if you download a song, the least you could do is leave me a comment. Comments make the world go 'round, you know? But if you don't believe in that, they certainly bring around more frequent rotations. ~__^

Title: Viinasu to Chiisana Kami-sama (Venus and a Small God)
Artist: Maria Yamamoto
Genre:Soft pop.
Anime/Movie/TV Series:NieA_7 (which, in my opinion, was a sort-of precursor to FLCL)
Comments: There was never a better feel-good song than this (I'm sure many of you would like to prove me wrong). It kinda reminds me of lazy summer afternoons, lying down on lawns beside leaky hoses with water streaming out in little rivulets splashing on hot skin, a piña colada in my hand (watch out for the 'piña colada' line in the song). It's so... calmly upbeat. It's relaxing, but it won't make you fall asleep. Perky-relaxing. If it helps, Maria Yamamoto (a very cute seiyuu who has voiced characters such as May from Hand Maid May and Nozomi Kaihara in Chance Pop Session) sounds like Yui Horie. Download if you like singers whose voices sound like Nino's in Let Me Be With You.

Title: Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
Artist: Hyde
Genre:Rock
Anime/Movie/TV Series:--
Comments: OMFGHYDEDIDABEATLESSONG! That he did. How's his Engrish? At least he doesn't say RUCY. Or at least... it's not something to pick at. He's Hyde, he's sexy, you love him. Download. (And don't forget to comment! ^__^ me= comment whore)

Title: Sung In Shik
Artist: Park Ji Yoon (sorry for the typo with the file)
Genre:Super-catchy dance pop
Anime/Movie/TV Series: Donggabnaegi Gwawoehagi (My Tutor Friend)
Comments: Park Ji Yoon could wipe the floor with J.Lo with this track. After I watched the film My Tutor Friend, I couldn't get the song out of my head, the song playing when Kim Ha-Neul's character Su-wan loses the bet and has to dance at the school festival. I became obsessed with it, and eventually bought the OST. Just for this song. It's thaaaaatt good.

Title: Play Girl
Artist: Clazziquai
Genre:Clazziquai
Anime/Movie/TV Series: --
Comments: Yes, the genre is clazziquai. You may ask, "What the fuck is Clazziquai?" Well, Clazziquai is a three-member group from Korea, whose music is defined as classic + jazz + groove (quai). Therefore... Clazziquai. And that's exactly how their music sounds. It's a pity they're not as widely known as, say, Shinhwa, Se7en, Dong Bang Shin Gi, or Bi. Perfect driving music, especially on open roads. Roll down your window and sing your heart out.

Title: DV
Artist: Cambio
Genre:Spoken/Rock
Anime/Movie/TV Series: --
Comments: This never fails to make me smile. Mga Pinoy talaga! Strange humor. But hey, it works. For non-Filipino visitors, DV stands for Divisoria, which is a thriving bazaar in Manila, where one can find inexpensive, uncommon things. As well as very nice clothes, bags, crabs, shoes, and stuff. If you have downloaded this and are thinking, "What the hell are they saying?", the lead singer Diego Mapa is mentioning street names in Manila. The chorus, sung by Ebe Dancel, is basically, "Who knows how to get there? Can I come?" again and again, layered with Kris Gorra-Dancel's voice. "Di-vi-sooooo-riiiaaa...." Ugh. I must be the worst comment writer ever. Just haul ass to download.

Title: Gusto Ko Ng Baboy
Artist: Radioactive Sago Project
Genre: Spoken/Jazz
Anime/Movie/TV Series: --
Comments: In Tagalog, 'baboy' can mean two things. Either pork, or pigs. However, it is up to you to decide if the singer is singing of his love for pork... or pigs. Radioactive Sago's famous for their non-singing songs that always carry some political message, masked underneath layers of humor. And they do mean sax solos too!

Title: Gorecki
Artist: Lamb
Genre: Techno/Trance
Anime/Movie/TV Series: --
Comments: They got the title of their album right. Lamb: Best Kept Secrets. Haven't heard of Lamb? Shame on you. Even Sugizo's heard of them. Gorecki is by far the most beautiful, haunting love song I've ever heard. It's romantic without being trying, sung in a painfully honest, naive-ish way by Lamb vocalist Louise Rhodes. For all you romantics out there, if there are still any of you around and unjaded. ^__^

Title: Kiss Them For Me

Title: IOIO
Artist: SHE
Genre: Pop
Anime/Movie/TV Series: --
Comments: Imagine Morning Musume... in three perky Chinese girls named Selina Ren, Hebe Tien, and Ella Chen. That's IOIO. Well, if you don't like that, then I'll upload their other most famous song (...), Super Star.

Title: Give My Love
Artist: Edward Chun
Genre: Pop
Anime/Movie/TV Series: Save Your Last Dance For Mw
Comments: It's cheesy pop sung by a good Korean singer... in English. And his English is frigging good. You love cheesy pop and Korean singers with nice voices who sing in good English. Ergo, you download this song. I must have had this on repeat on Winamp for two or three days, nonstop.
